What happens to my thermostat settings if the power goes out in my home?

If the power goes out the backup battery of your evohome Controller will ensure that the settings will be recovered when power is back up.

Why does the system come on early to reach the set temperature?

Most common heating systems rely on the flow of hot water in a piping system and the transfer of heat from the hot water to the cooler ambient temperature (typically through radiators or underfloor heating). Depending on the difference in room temperature and target temperature, and the level of insulation, your home may need more or less time to heat up, thus having the boiler fire up early on.

Will my thermostat still work if I lose my internet connection?

Yes. Your thermostat will keep working with the schedule it has stored in its memory. However, you will not be able to remotely control your heating system until an internet connection is restored.

What features on my thermostat can I control with the Total Connect Comfort mobile app?

At the moment, the mobile app allows you to perform the following tasks:

You can schedule the heating in the following way:

  • From the mobile app, enter the thermostat screen and press on the calendar icon located on the top right hand corner of the screen.

The system will synchronize your entire heating schedule within a few minutes.

If you want to use the thermostat without the heating schedule, then delete all the switchpoints of all the days from the app, and save.

How does my thermostat work in combination with the Total Connect Comfort app?

If you have created a heating schedule, then the thermostat will automatically change the target temperature at the times you have chosen.
If you have not created a heating schedule, then the thermostat will always control to the last target temperature you have selected.
When the AWAY quick-action is selected, the thermostat controls at 15°C.
Whent the ECO NOMYquick-action is selected, the thermostat target temperature is reduced by 3°C.
When the HEATING OFF quick-action is selected, the thermostat target temperature is reduced to a default 5°C to help prevent freezing.

All settings are stored in permanent memory so that the thermostat can start working properly as soon as power is restored.

Will my thermostat still work if I lose my internet connection?

Yes. The thermostat will continue to control your heating normally.
If you have set up a heating schedule, then the target temperature will continue to change according to that schedule as long as the Internet Gateway is powered, even if the internet connection is lost. However, you will not be able to remotely control your heating system until an internet connection is restored.
If the Internet gateway is switched off, then the thermostat will control continuously at the last target temperature set.

Why does the system come on early to reach the set temperature?

Most common heating systems rely on the flow of hot water in a piping system and the transfer of heat from the hot water to the cooler ambient temperature (typically through radiators or underfloor heating). Depending on the difference in room temperature and target temperature, and the level of insulation, your home may need more or less time to heat up. If you want to have the room temperature you have programmed at exactly the time you have scheduled, the thermostat can do this by learning how quickly your house heats up and bringing the boiler on early to achieve this. This is a feature called 'Smart Response Technology' and it can be enabled/disabled by going to MENU > PREFERENCES > SMART RESPONSE TECHNOLOGY and setting it to On or Off.

Will my thermostat still work if I lose my internet connection?

Yes. Your thermostat will keep working with the schedule it has stored in its memory. However, voice recognition will not work and you will not be able to remotely control your heating system until an internet connection is restored.

Does a wireless Honeywell device cause any interference with other wireless devices in my home?

Honeywell's range of wireless thermostat using Honeywell's proprietary communication protocol works on the 868Mhz band. This should not interfer with either your wireless internet access or your GSM reception.

Is there a way to extend the signal strength?

Currently, Honeywell does not supply any wireless repeaters. The range cannot be extended.

What is the range or distance of the signal?

Honeywell's Radio Frequency communications working on the 868MHz band has a range of 100m for thermostats and 1 000m for security peripherals in open fields. In a home environment, depending on the house fabric and number of walls between the  devices communicating, Honeywell can achieve a typical reliable range of 30m.

What is Evohome Security / Sucrebox Security?

Evohome Security and Sucrebox Security are two very similar range of products for residential security and safety. It is composed of a Central Unit (CU) and wide range of security and safety peripherals. Among these peripherals you will find tag readers, motion detectors, motion detectors with camera, smoke sensors, CO sensors, keypads, keyfobs, door contact detectors, glass break detector and indoor sirens. The Central Unit plays the role of the internet gateway in EvoHome Security / SucreBox Security system.

How does EvoHome Security / Sucrebox Security work?

All the peripherals communicate with the Central Unit through a Honeywell proprietary radio frequency. In case of a safety or security issue such as a fire or an intrusion, the system will send out an alert via email and optionally via SMS. If you own the motion detector with camera you will receive as well 5 pictures of the area where the motion has been detected. It is also possible to request to receive 5 pictures via the app at any time.

How long will last the batteries of my peripherals and how do I know when to change them?

Batteries should last at least 4 years for most of the peripherals. You will be informed about the battery level of each peripheral via the web portal (www.mytotalconnectcomfort.com) by logging in your user area. If you have activated your SMS text message service, you will also receive a text message indicating that the batteries need to be replaced.

What is the partially armed security mode?

On the mobile application and some of the peripherals such as the tag reader you will have icons to “arm” “disarm” and “partially arm” your security system. The partially armed mode is used for instance during the night when you are sleeping. This functionality would allow you for instance to activate the glass break detector and the door contact detector but deactivate the motion detectors near your sleeping room.

To decide which peripheral should be activated in the “partially arm” mode, login to your user area and check or uncheck the wanted peripheral in the peripheral page.  When unchecked, the peripheral is only active in the “arm” mode.

Every peripheral can be configured in the “partially arm” mode except smoke sensors, CO sensors, keypads and keyfobs.

What happens if I have a power failure?

In case of a power outage, your security system will still be able to fire off an intrusion or life safety alarm (if smoke or CO detected). The only command available to the user is to disarm the system. It will not be possible to arm back your system until the main power is back.
